Jan. 31—Public Affairs Wrap-Up

Not able to catch last week’s Public Affairs Committee meeting? Here are the highlights:

Members participated in a lively discussion regarding immigration reform and a review of legislation from the Chamber’s Issue Committees.

The committee heard from Representative Matt Salmon’s Chief of Staff, Adam Deguire. Deguire briefed the committee about the progress of federal immigration reform in 2014 and discussed the release of the House GOP’s leadership “principles” for immigration reform.

Deguire stressed that this is an issue the House wants to move forward with in an effort to resolve some long standing issues with the country’s immigration system.

As Congress moves forward on this important issue, it is vital that the business community continue to be vocal about the need for immigration reform and emphasize the economic boost such reform would provide to Arizona and to the nation.

You can read more about the Chamber’s position on the importance of immigration reform here.

The committee also reviewed and approved the Chamber’s Issue Committees’ positions on legislation. You can review the Chamber positions on legislative bills at our website.
